As the 2023-24 academic term comes to a close, the Shelton Leadership Center (SLC) celebrates the achievements of students across each of the center’s programs and academics. Over 75 SLC-affiliated students are graduating from NC State University at the end of this academic year’s term.
Graduating students and endowed scholarship recipients were recognized earlier in April at the Center’s end-of-year reception, where SLC welcomed students, alumni, staff, faculty, board members, and donors for an evening to gather as a community. Throughout the evening, students of the SLC leadership programs and minors spoke on the impact the Center has made on their unique leadership journeys.

Dereck Whittenburg, a member of the 1983 NC State men’s basketball championship team, served as the keynote speaker during the event, providing words of advice for graduating students as they enter their chosen fields and continue to pursue post-collegiate leadership experiences.
2024 Values Awards Recipients
Four SLC students were named the 2024 SLC Values Awards recipients, which are awarded annually to the students who exemplify the four SLC organizational values: social responsibility, integrity, diversity, and compassion. All students affiliated with SLC are eligible to be nominated for the award by their programmatic peers, SLC staff and faculty.
