Shelton Challenge Recruitment & Registration Intern

Position Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented college-aged intern to assist the Shelton Leadership Center with the recruitment and registration processes for our summer camp program (Red Hat Shelton Challenge). Reporting to the SLC Assistant Director for Pre-College Programs & First Year Experiences, the intern will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful enrollment of high school students, providing administrative support, and delivering high-quality customer service to prospective participants and their families.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing recruitment events and outreach activities.
- Collaborate with Center staff and interns to develop and distribute promotional materials to high schools, community organizations, and online platforms.
- Communicate with potential participants and their families to provide information about the summer camp.
- Manage the registration process, including collecting and organizing applications, forms, and payments.
- Maintain accurate records of participant information in the database.
- Confirm participant registrations and send out necessary pre-camp information.
- Respond to inquiries from prospective participants and their families via phone, email, and in-person.
- Provide high-quality customer service to ensure a positive experience for all applicants.
- Assist with resolving any registration issues or concerns.
- Prepare reports and updates on recruitment and registration progress.
- Assist in the coordination of logistics for the summer camp, including housing, transportation, and meals.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the camp program.

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and Google Drive; familiarity with database management is a plus.
- Reliable, responsible, and self-motivated.
- Interest in working with high school students and the ability to relate to people from various backgrounds.
- Prior experience with camp programs, recruitment, or event planning is preferred.
