The Shelton Scholars program of the Shelton Leadership Center at NC State University has named three first-year students to its class of 2028.
The Shelton Scholars program is proud to welcome Chloe Elizabeth Hammonds, Michael Alonso Llaury, and Seth Yon.
The students were selected from a rigorous application and interview process, during which they demonstrated alignment with the Shelton Center values: integrity, social responsibility, diversity and compassion.
“As the Shelton Scholars program continues into its 20th year, I am thrilled to welcome these three new students into our Scholars program as they begin their academic journey and become part of the Shelton legacy,” Debbie Acker, Shelton Leadership Center Director, said. “Their pre-collegiate values-based leadership experience aligns with the Shelton Scholars program and our Center’s community.”
Applications for the Shelton Scholars program continue to grow each year, with over 700 prospective students applying to the program in Spring 2024. The three selected students will join ten second, third, and fourth year Scholars.
As active members of the Shelton Scholars program, the students will engage in interdisciplinary seminars, community-based service and hands-on application of values-based leadership principles. Additionally, Scholars complete two international service learning trips during their time in the program.
